Other Sites I Like

  • Astronomy Picture of the Day
My father-in-law sent me a link to this site and I love it. Normally astronomy really freaks me out but these guys make it kind of fun.
  • Cute Overload
    'Nuff said.
  • Go Fug Yourself
    Pure genius.
  • GroceryLists.org
This is so weird and awesome.
  • Paris Vacation Apartments
The MUST-STAY place if you're vacationing in Paris. Normally I would not shill for someone else on my website but they are so awesome I had to link to them.
  • PostSecret
    Voyeuristic and fascinating.
  • SF Gate
Even though I live nowhere near San Francisco, I love this site. Good writing, interesting stories, and a different perspective than the East Coast view I see every day.

Stuff I'm Reading

  • Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan: Go Fug Yourself: The Fug Awards

Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan: Go Fug Yourself: The Fug Awards
I just pre-ordered this, I cannot wait to open it up!!!

  • Ian Caldwell: The Rule of Four

Ian Caldwell: The Rule of Four
I just finished this. I am still undecided on what I thought of it. Interesting, a pretty fast and fluffy read, but I was really unsatisfied by the ending. Maybe that's what they intended, but I don't think it worked for me.

  • Charles Dickens: A Tale of Two Cities
I was supposed to read this in 7th grade and I never did. I did my book report on the movie (I know, bad me!) and then I never read the book. So now I'm finally reading it. Great so far - I'm on page 5.
  • Walter Isaacson: Benjamin Franklin: An American Life

Walter Isaacson: Benjamin Franklin: An American Life
I really struggled with this book. I got about a third of the way through it, maybe not even that far, and then I just couldn't go further. We'll see, maybe I can pick it up again later.

Toddler! (Well, she will be when she toddles)

Yesterday was my baby's first birthday! So I guess technically she is no longer a baby. Are kids officially toddlers when they turn 1, or when they actually start to toddle? She can toddle if someone holds both of her hands. She can stand while holding on with one hand, or leaning her chest against something. I can see how much she wants to stand on her own, she's just not quite there yet. Probably a few more weeks for that. I'm figuring she'll be walking in a couple of months. Maybe she'll surprise me and do it sooner. I guess we'll find out soon enough. I remember her big sister could stand without holding on at about 10 months, and she walked at exactly a year. So this one has a couple months to go yet.

We sang her happy birthday and went to brunch but she didn't know the difference. I had really good French toast! The birthday girl was cranky by that point and spent most of the meal yelling and throwing food on the floor. Her big sister whined a lot. It was a pretty typical day with two tired parents and two little girls.

It has been a busy and crazy year since she was born. I can't imagine life without her. Happy birthday sweetie! You should start talking soon so we can finally understand all the stuff you've been telling us.......

Aren't birthday girls always cranky?
Happy Birthday to the baby, and congratulations to her tired parents!

Happy Birthday to the 1 year old, and to mom. Can't wait for the party!

Happy birthday to her! Sam's birthday is coming up and we're pretty excited. I know she won't care at all though. I'm sure she'll enjoy the cake, though.

Wow!!! Happy birthday to her!! I can't believe she's a year old?!!

Good god, she's already one! How time flies. Happy belated birthday!
